The Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) today announced air-charter specialist Alliance Airlines as its latest commercial partner, on a three-year deal.

As part of the partnership, the Queensland-based company’s Alliance Airlines brand will feature on the front of the Queensland Reds playing shorts over the next three seasons.

The Reds will also use Alliance’s aviation services during its team’s annual ‘Reds to Regions’ pilgrimage to all parts of the state - and for its regional Festivals of Rugby.

Alliance Airlines is the largest national air charter operator for the resources industry in Australia and continues to be recognised as a leading aviation professional, providing tailored and customised group travel and individual experiences through the provision of charter services.

Alliance Airlines Managing Director Scott McMillan said: “As a proud Queensland company based in Brisbane, we’re excited to partner with the QRU and Queensland Reds for the next three years.

“As a specialist charter provider we’re well placed to service the needs of this elite sporting team, and we’re confident that Reds fans, clubs and schools who travel big distances to compete and watch Rugby will embrace the services we can offer them," Mr McMillan added.

QRU CEO David Hanham said: “We’re pleased to announce that another Queensland company is jumping on board to support the QRU and the Reds.

“Alliance Airlines success in assisting various industries deal with the challenges presented by COVID-19 have been impressive and a testament to those who lead this aviation business.

“Covid-19 has thrown up many travel challenges for sport but it has also created opportunities like this for us to partner experienced local service providers and create bespoke programs to suit the Reds elite needs, as well as the requirements of the wider Queensland Rugby family.

“The growth and success of our Reds to Regions program continues to be an area of focus for us and it’s great that companies can see synergies between our vision for the Reds and the code and their long-term corporate objectives,” Mr Hanham added.

Today’s announcement comes following news in July that temporary hire specialists TFH signed as a commercial partner of the QRU and the Reds also for three years, joining a stable of blue-chip companies including St.George Bank, Santos and Rio Tinto that are committing to sponsor the organisation long-term.
